Francesca Palma
In her latest creation, Francesca Palma Terán forges a dialogue between digital, erotic, and myth. Thin sheets of metal, etched and shaped, become the frame for a tribal aesthetic rooted in cybersigilism, where ancestral echoes meet digital visions.
At its heart, two symbols converge: the Native American dreamcatcher, guardian of the subconscious, and the Western thaumatrope, a playful illusion of movement. Together, they become a portal where memory, desire, time, desires, and imagination intertwine—at times shaped by the delicate worlds of video games.
A laser-engraved open birdcage invites the eye inward, while a vivid red base holds the weight of a portrait. Hidden within her process are questions on gender roles, erotic functions, and fragments that seek rebirth—leading us into a realm where reality blurs, and alternate landscapes quietly emerge.
Francesca explores the impact of vision, unraveling its hidden narratives. In her recent work, the human figure emerges naturally, rooted in the senses, while the viewer absorbs it through memory, dreams, and emotions.
For Ventana, she presents a series that confronts the fractures of visuality, where textures, smells, and light forms reign. Her work seeks the unstable perception, using digital tools to reconfigure images and open new spaces for perception.
