Aquiles Jarrin
At its core, the installation features a burnt wood sculpture meticulously crafted to mimic a nuclear weapons totem pole, placed on a substrate of charcoal-laden earth that reveals echoes of a cryptic past or an enigmatic future. Jarrin strategically employs this juxtaposition to enhance the imagery of war, presenting a formidable artifact seemingly suspended in a dense crimson sea.
Functioning as an archeology of the present, this piece seems to evoke that which paradoxically exists omnipresent in the media and buried in the political arena, destruction.
In the realm of speculative fiction, the work also functions as a time capsule, housing a domain inhabited solely by creatures silently participating in the reconstruction of a new world. It stands as a territory embodying the complex interplay between conflict, transformation, and the enduring spirit of creation.
