Maria Lunetto

Is a pair of textile artworks that juxtaposes the natural state of materials with the imposition of structure. The first piece features an old, crunchy, yellowed bed sheet, stained and enhanced to showcase its raw, unaltered essence. The second piece transforms another stained bed sheet into a three-dimensional form, stretched taut with wires poking out, representing the forceful imposition of shape. Together, these works explore the tension between freedom and constraint, highlighting the beauty of natural imperfections and ‘letting things be as they are’ and the stark contrast of forced conformity.
